The Citadel Skydiving Club Jumping Back Into Training

After having the summer off from team training, the Citadel cadets are back at the DZ! Their first time out this Fall semester was the 18th of Sept., just this past weekend!

If you were at Jump Georgia this past weekend, you would have seen them driving up in a caravan with a dozen or so cadets flooding the DZ with veteran jumpers as well as new members.

After having a rough start with finding sponsors when they started in early 2022, one of their goal this semester is to secure funding for the team to begin training, getting certified, and competing with other academies around the country.

Though they seek to establish a competition team to participate in national events, their primary goal in these early stages is to familiarize, train, and certify interested cadets who are looking for something out of the ordinary to be a part of.

If you missed it, here’s the article on The Citadel Today from May.

The team faculty advisor is Capt. Sijtsma, a TAC officer at The Citadel. For more information on the The Citadel’s Citadel Skydiving Club’s events, contact Cpt. Sijtsma.

If you know of an organization that would like to sponsor the team, contact the Office of Cadet Activities at The Citadel in Charleston, SC.

* Yeah, sorry, the photo is from this past March. We’ll ask them to send us a photo from the Sept 17, 18 jump.
